Skyline Chestnuts is a gather-your-own chestnut orchard on Skyline Boulevard above Palo Alto, near La Honda, California. Visitors pick their own chestnuts using buckets and leather gloves provided on site; sturdy closed-toe shoes are recommended because of the prickly burrs. Chestnuts are sold by the pound, and both cash and credit cards are accepted. The season runs roughly five weeks from mid-to-late October.
